-Inc. 500 #210 and Aggie 100 # 7 expand into more space, but will it be enough? -

San Antonio, Texas, March 12, 2007 —The Miner Corporation, a thirteen-year-old company that services and sells warehousing and retail equipment to customers throughout North America, announced Miner Fleet Management Group’s expansion into 16,000 square feet of newly designed office space in San Antonio, Texas. The new premier facility is located in North Park Corporate Center and is their third location in less than four years as a result of dramatic growth in excess of 575% as recorded by Inc. 500.

In 2003, the company began strategic planning for rapid growth followed by execution of that plan. Miner’s ongoing commitment to the process through 2007 has fostered the firm’s growth. It is anticipated that Miner will once again be one of the fastest growing private companies in the United States in 2007.

Upon entering the new offices at the North Park Corporate Center, the visitor immediately notices something very different about the ambiance and the space planning. Specific touches are unique and inspire curiosity. The interior design was planned to accommodate eight various sized meeting areas and large plasma screens are mounted throughout the facility. The screens are tuned to The Weather Channel so that the team can monitor weather conditions that affect their customers so that the team can proactively prepare to meet client’s needs.

Miner services all of the doors and equipment that moves product inside of Fortune 100 retailers and warehousing facilities. Monitoring the weather allows the team to prepare and plan for clients service needs in advance. “We literally use this technology all day, everyday in our job. It affects our meeting agendas and our service team’s travel schedule through out the day,” says Jeff Schmeck, President.

The new space allows the Miner team to have their daily “huddle” where more than 50 team members meet together to learn from one another, discuss areas where they may be stuck, and review the financial metrics. The 10 - 15 minute meetings are part of the company’s “high growth” training. The company has invested extensively in management, leadership, and growth education for all employees.

“Our use and design of the space demonstrates our commitment to communication,” says David Janssen, Chief Operating Officer. “We have built several large rooms to allow our teams to get together and share ideas - this is part of the culture we have carefully built. We committed to a very large lunch room, spanning 1,000 square feet that serves as a break room, training facility, or meeting space. We even use one of our products, a Rolling Steel Overhead Door, to reduce the size of the space for smaller group needs. With the turn of a key, we can open the door and expand our meeting space. In addition, the door saved over $10,000 in build-out expenses and is extremely functional.”
A sense of spaciousness is created by the very tall ceilings where over fifty people work closely together. As a visitor approaches this giant open area blocked only by stair–stepped, cutting-edge cubical work spaces, quietness prevails due to the very tall ceilings covered in specially designed wall finishes.

The facility planning and floor plan creation began about a year ago when 16,000 square feet was expected to provide the firm with plenty of room for growth. One year later, it may be a different story. “The growth we have seen this year and our plans for 2007 will see us hiring many more talented individuals. It is quite likely that we will utilize all of our current growth space for new staff by the end of the year,” stated Jeff Schmeck.
