Plastic Strip Curtains are No Match Against High Speed Doors

Before

San Antonio, TX- GW Plastics, a precision plastic manufacturing company was faced with high-traffic exterior doors and the need to preserve air-conditioning and maintain low humidity.  The plastic manufacturer had installed strip curtains on these openings but thought that there must be a better way.

The particular area inside the doors contained sensitive robotic equipment and must remain moisture free. The strip curtain allowed for traffic in and out of the doors but is also allowed the wind and humidity to enter the building. In addition, strip curtains can get caught on forklifts and carts and get torn off or slap employees as they pass through.

After

GW called Miner to help them with their door problem and Sam Beltran, Equipment Sales and Service Specialist, had the solution. Sam recommended that they install two Albany High-Speed Doors that open and close at up to 100” per second. The doors are automatically activated with push buttons and motion sensors that improve the flow of people and material. Since they close quickly, the doors prevent the mass flow of air and any infiltration that the strips could not quite stop. GW Plastics is thrilled with their new energy efficient doors and the improved operating conditions that it has afforded their employees.
